Rykarda Parasol – Against the Sun

Rykarda Parasol’s latest album, Against the Sun, is absolutely captivating.  I stumbled upon her music a few weeks ago on Spotify and I have not been able to stop listening to it.  Rykarda has a beautiful, deep voice that is dripping with emotional power.  Each song sounds personal and private and I feel like I am being slightly voyeuristic when I listen to it late into the evening.

Atheists Have Songs Too

Since my soul cannot be saved,
I guess ill go in to my grave,
And wake up in a world of flame,
And wake up in world of flame.

Fire and brimstone, thistle and thorn,
I never believed since the day I was born.
Come sit beside me under any old tree,
And under any tree ask me any old thing.
So flesh and flesh and bone and bone,
That is all I’ll ever know …
Fire and brimstone, thistle and thorn,
I never believed since the day I was born.

Suffering is life’s common thread,
Woven in veins of roman red.
Say: “Pain no more. Pain no more!”
